The Northern Sydney Institute hosted a hospitality industry breakfast on 16 October, 2012 providing local chefs and business owners with information on apprenticeships, traineeships and workforce solutions.

Lee Severino, former NSI student and Executive Chef at Miramare Gardens, Terrey Hills attended the breakfast.

“It’s very important that as businesses we all work together and do the best we can to support young chefs coming into the industry,” he said.

“We’ve all got a common goal and together we can make sure we sustain a healthy local hospitality industry.”

A Northern Beaches local, Lee completed his Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at Northern Beaches College before moving on to work at some of the local area’s greatest restaurants, including the Four Olives Deli, Cala Luna & Pilu at Freshwater.

Now the Executive Chef at Miramare Gardens and co - owner of Mozzarella Pizzeria at Dee Why Beach, Lee said he believes education plays a very important part in developing a chef’s skills.

“Quality education is very important, you have to do the ground work and prepare yourself for working in the industry,” he said.

“Northern Beaches College gives the youth of today a great opportunity to learn and have an understanding of the industry they want to join.”
