The Northern Sydney Institute’s Diploma of Communications and Media students held their annual film festival – Reel Event at Ryde Campus recently.

The sold out event was a great success!  Students showcased six films that they had filmed and directed.

The films ranged from a documentary on graffiti art through to a psychological thriller and spoof comedy.

Guests enjoyed live music performed by Epping Boys High School students as well as delicious canapés prepared by Ryde Campus commercial cookery students.

One guest also received the lucky door prize – a Skydiving experience from Sky Dive Australia , while another two students in the audience won Event Cinema movie tickets.

The Northern Sydney Institute Director, Kevin Harris, officially opened the film festival.

“This film festival is the culmination of the students’ learning and skill development throughout the year – and it really shows what they can do.”

“It’s an ambitious undertaking which has required a great deal of work and dedication by both the students and teachers.

“The students have created a fantastic film festival - and they should be very proud of their achievements.”

The event aired prime-time on Foxtel’s Aurora channel on Sunday, November 25 at 8:30pm.

The Diploma of Communication and Media at Meadowbank Campus is a one year full-time course which equips students with a broad range of practical skills from communication, speech presentation and team building to media and promotional writing, video editing and production, Photoshop and website design.

Students completing the course have obtained work in industry or have continued their education at TAFE or university.
