On Monday 27th October, the Northern Sydney Institute’s Hair, Beauty & Make-up Academy celebrated the ten year anniversary of holding its annual Job Fair at Meadowbank Campus.
This exciting all-day event attracts principal beauty industry employers to spend the day at the Campus, interviewing fifty students that are just about to graduate from the Academy.
The Job Fair was an initiative developed a decade ago by the Academy’s Head Teacher of Hair and Beauty, Suzanne Hattch, and has grown in popularity with each passing year.
“Our students gain invaluable experience in the processes of interviewing and job recruitment whilst industry receive the opportunity to interview the students completing their courses before they are employed elsewhere,” said Suzanne.
Past Job Fair statistics have shown that 70% of graduating students receive second interviews and many succeed with an offer of employment.
This success has been helped by the Northern Sydney Institute Careers Connect department who are on hand each year to offer invaluable assistance with interview techniques for the students and to register both the employer’s interest, and graduates details for future job placements.
Founder and Sales Director of True Solutions International, Mandy Gray, believes that the Job Fair is the best chance for the professional beauty industry to meet the newest graduates before they enter the work force.
“This day allows us to evaluate, prepare and allocate graduates to fulfil roles in the future,” said Mandy.
“As a supply company we will not only select quality graduates for our business but also gain future therapists for the many salons spas and media spas that are looking for staff.”
Students attending the Job Fair will graduate in November with one of the following qualifications; Certificate II in Retail, Make up and Skin Care, Certificate II in Nail Technology, Certificate III in Beauty Services, Diploma of Beauty Therapy or Diploma of Salon Management.
These qualification means a wide range of representatives will be in attendance this year including Boots and All Consultancy, Endota Spas, True Solutions International, Ella Rouge Cooperate head office, Myer and Benefit Cosmetics.
