TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute’s (NSI), Ryde College recently hosted a dinner for the KOTO International charity at the colleges Ambassador Restaurant.

All proceeds from the dinner were donated to KOTO International (Know One, Teach One), who aim to support quality training for disadvantaged youth in Vietnam.

Established in 1998, KOTO International runs a restaurant and vocational training program which provides Vietnamese youth with the opportunity to learn hospitality skills and work in the KOTO restaurant.

The 18 month program also teaches the students English, health, hygiene, sport and other life skills.

NSI’s Ryde College Director, Elizabeth Smith, said she was delighted the College was assisting with fundraising for the charity.

“I have had the privilege to visit the KOTO school in Hanoi and was very impressed with the standard the students achieved in their spoken English, the quality of the food presentation and the service in the restaurant,” she said.

“I am very pleased that Ryde College can make a contribution to this wonderful vocational training school.”

Approximately $9,000 was raised which will contribute to funding the training for four young people for two years.

The five course charity dinner was prepared by Ryde College Le Cordon Bleu students and the entertainment for the evening was provided by internationally acclaimed concert pianist Ambre Hammond.
